For the Adults…
Asheville is well known for being Beer City U.S.A. so it’s no wonder that beer has become part of the culture here. There are a number of breweries that pride themselves in being incredibly kid-friendly and that allow a safe space for the kiddos to run around and play while the adults can look on and enjoy a cold brew. We’ve included a few of our tried and true favorite breweries to take the kids.
While not exactly a brewery, Salvage Station is located along the French Broad River and serves many local and regional beers and an excellent food menu. The outdoor space is designed to be wide open and on a typical summer evening, you’ll see families and children playing in the field and soaking in the rays on the number of provided hammocks. In the evenings, there is almost always live music for you to sit back and enjoy while enjoying the breeze coming off of the French Broad.
Highland Brewery is a local favorite for families. They offer a large outdoor space with a wide, grassy area for the kids to run and dance along to the band playing on the outdoor stage. Bring your chairs or a blanket and get ready for an evening of fun!
Archetype Brewing is newer to the Asheville beer scene but they have already proven to be one of our favorite family-friendly breweries. The owners are not only experienced brewers, but are parents of small children as well, so they made sure to go out of their way to design a space that is safe and entertaining for the little ones. With an abundance of toys and story time, you will never want to go anywhere else with your children. Not to mention, the owners are as sweet as can be! Go check them out and say “hi”!
Pisgah Brewing is located just east of Asheville in Black Mountain. It is a fantastic place to experience the mountains and enjoy a concert at their gorgeous outdoor venue. Since you'll often find that families choose this venue for their nights out, you can jam to the sounds of the band while the kids run and play and make new friends.
The brewery giant has an incredible brewing facility in South Asheville. Their Taproom has a full restaurant, brewery tours, and a concert stage in their massive, open backyard. In their backyard, they offer bocce ball, corn hole, and a fenced in children's play area with picnic tables and a sandbox. This has been a favorite of ours to take the kids in the summertime and they're definitely ready for a nap by the time we head home.
