Lake Eden Arts Festival is a weekend-long event that is held twice a year on approximately 600 acres settled below Mt. Mitchell. Since 1996, this non-profit organization has united thousands of people to experience culture, art, and music from all across the globe. You even have the option of camping on the property, which makes for a comfortable and exciting experience. Don’t wait to order your tickets, though. Weekend and camping passes do sell out quickly!
For those of you who have an appreciation for good cheddar, Highland Brewery will be hosting the Carolina Mountain Cheese Fest on April 23rd. This event will showcase 19 cheese makers from across the South and give you an opportunity to speak with the vendors, host teaching workshops, and even spend some time with baby goats. There will even be a mouth-watering grilled cheese cook-off!
This festival takes you just outside of Asheville, a short 35-minute drive to Hot Springs, NC. Fun for all of the family, the weekend event is partially an outdoor recreational festival, with hiking, white water rafting, and mountain bike races. This festival also features local and regional music on multiple stages, shopping, and a children’s play area.
If you want to spend some time in the heart of Asheville, Downtown After Five is the place to be! On May 19th, North Lexington Avenue will shut down for an evening of music, food, and local craft beer, with a purchase of a $2 wristband. The proceeds of each wristband go to support non-profit organizations, so really, you’re simply doing a good deed by going out!
While most studios are regularly open for visits, twice a year the River Arts District Studio Stroll opens up and allows visitors to explore all the artist’s studios over the course of two days. This gives the public an opportunity to meet the artists, take tours of their work space, and witness live demonstrations from the artists themselves. All studios are within walking distance from each other, and the area is right across the river from New Belgium Brewery just in case you want to grab a quick brew after your stroll.
